The Open Journal of Health and Social Care is a new Diamond open access journal for practitioner-researchers to share their valuable research. Pathways for sharing such research outside of traditional academic structures and funding are often limited. The OJHSCI offers an alternative and free pathway to ensure this necessary work reaches a wide audience amongst other practitioners, academics, and the general public.

The journal was developed from the Open Health Research Ireland Network (OHRIN) project. The project aims to build a network to support Open Research in the Irish Health and Social Care sector both through training and support and through publishing infrastructure.

The Open Journal of Health and Social Care in Ireland is a place for health and social practitioners to publish and make their research accessible without financial barriers. It is also designed to support authors in their publishing endeavours.

We encourage potential authors to read more about the journal mission, scope and policies on the About page before submission. Questions from new and established authors are encouraged as our aim is to support authors through the writing, editing and submission process where appropriate.

We also encourage potential authors to join the Open Health Research Ireland Network (OHRIN) to receive member supports such as a community of practice and training in open research practices and authorship: https://www.tcdlibrary.ie/ohrin/
